A short workshop in Indigo dying. Learn to dye fabric with indigo, a plant that creates a beautiful blue color. You will learn to tie and fold fabric to achieve a variety of patterns as you dip and dye. Feel free to bring an all-cotton, white t-shirt to explore your new skills. Dress for mess! This class is hands on! And the hands will be bluish by the end of the class! All supplies provided.

This class is a full day where you'll learn how to make the Dancing Log Cabin block and put together your quilt. The speedy among you will get it done and ready that day. Others can finish it at home. Pattern available at a discount.

Route 322: Take the Middletown Road Exit. Follow this to Main Street in Middletown. Take a right on Main Street to Union Street. Turn left on Union Street. Make a sharp right turn on Spring Street and then a left turn into the parking lot.

Route 441: Route 441 becomes Canal Street in Middletown. Take Canal Street to Union Street. Turn right on to Union Street. Watch for St Peters Luther Church on your left. Make a left onto Spring Street and then a left into the parking lot.

Route 230 East: Route 230 East becomes Main Street in Middletown. Turn left on Union Street. Make a sharp right turn on Spring Street and then a left turn into the parking lot.

Directions to the meeting space:
Follow the walk/ramp through double doors past a glass secretary’s station on your right and walk straight ahead. We will be meeting in Luther Hall which is straight ahead.

Create one of a kind fabrics using Procion MX Dye. You will be amazed at the beautiful and varied effects achieved by layering ice, fabric and powdered dye, then letting the ice do the work. All supplies provided. Please wear old clothes since stains and accidents can happen. Class size limited to 12. Specify preferred session when registering.

I produced a lot of sample pieces of cyanotype fabrics at the class. When I got home I sewed them together to make a quilt top which I finally made into a quilt which you can see here.

This cyanotype process has some pro's and definitely some con's. I'm considering teaching a class in this technique at the Ice House Quilt Show in Berkeley Springs, WV. Watch this page for a (possible) listing for that upcoming show.

Whether you like batiks or are into baby quilt animals.... this class is fun! The pattern is fat quarter friendly with two quilt blocks coming from each quarter. You'll have fun placing the blocks to hide the 'block' and then appliqué the 'extra' leaves where ever you want on the quilt top.

Jane Frenke, from Berkeley Springs, WV, is a weaver, quilter, and teacher with a passion for fabric dyeing. She’ll join us at our June meeting for a trunk show and lecture called “What If…”

What if I make a mistake? What if something you start doesn’t turn out like you thought it would? What if you don’t like something after you’ve put some time in on it? Mistakes happen, and it’s okay to make them. It’s what you do with your mistakes that matters.
